2002–2007 Subaru Impreza WRX 2.0L / 2.5L Turbo Cold Air Intake Kit

This cold air intake kit replaces the entire restrictive factory airbox and corrugated intake tube on your 2002–2007 Subaru Impreza WRX (GD Sedan / GG Wagon) with the EJ205 2.0L turbo (2002–2005) or the EJ255 2.5L turbo (2006–2007). The 3.0-inch mandrel-bent aluminum tube and oversized dry cone filter are positioned in the passenger-side fender well, drawing cooler, denser air from outside the engine bay. Faster turbo spool, sharper throttle response, and a deeper induction growl under boost — without touching your factory MAF sensor, blowing the air without any check engine light, or making any permanent modifications.

Key Features

  • 3.0-inch mandrel-bent aluminum intake tube: Replaces the factory-corrugated rubber inlet hose with smooth internal walls and a 76 mm outer cross-section, reducing airflow turbulence before the turbo inlet. Black powder-coated finish for heat resistance (rated to 400°F / 204°C) and corrosion protection.
  • High-flow dry cone filter: Large surface area conical filter with synthetic dry cotton gauze media that requires no oiling — eliminates the risk of MAF sensor contamination that is common with oiled filters on turbo Subaru applications. Washable and reusable.
  • True cold air intake placement: The filter is mounted in the passenger-side fender well, isolated from engine bay heat. Cooler, denser intake charge means more oxygen per cycle, supporting more consistent power delivery on a turbocharged engine.
  • Complete bolt-on kit, no permanent mods: Includes 4-ply reinforced silicone couplers, stainless steel T-bolt clamps, vehicle-specific mounting brackets, MAF adapter plate, and breather hose. Reuses your factory MAF sensor and air temperature sensor — unbolt and transfer. Returns to stock in under an hour.
  • Faster spool and sharper throttle response: Removing the restrictive factory snorkel and airbox lets the turbocharger draw air with less resistance, with the most noticeable improvement in 2nd–4th gear pulls. Typical intake-only gains are approximately 8–15 WHP and 8–12 lb-ft of torque on a properly tuned WRX; actual results depend on the vehicle, calibration, installation, and supporting hardware.
  • Aggressive induction sound: A more pronounced turbo spool whistle, a crisper bypass valve (BOV) release on lift-off, and a deeper intake growl under boost — unlocking the sounds your WRX turbo has been making all along, just muted by the factory airbox.
  • Direct fit for GD / GG chassis: Designed to mount using existing factory bolt holes and grommets on the 2002–2007 WRX Sedan (GD) and Wagon (GG). No cutting, no drilling, no additional parts required for the standard install.

Who This Kit Is For

This Flashark Cold Air Intake is for owners of a 2002–2007 Subaru Impreza WRX Sedan (GD) or Wagon (GG) running the EJ205 2.0L turbo (2002–2005) or EJ255 2.5L turbo (2006–2007) who want faster turbo spool, sharper throttle response, a more aggressive induction note, and a washable filter — all in a bolt-on install with hand tools.

✓ For you if… you daily-drive or weekend-drive your GD/GG WRX and want a first turbo-side upgrade · you prefer a washable dry filter over disposable paper elements · you've confirmed your county or state emissions rules below before ordering · you plan to pair the intake with an appropriate tune for the MAF change.

✗ Not for you if… you have a WRX STI (different MAF housing, turbo, and manifold — see FAQ Q13) · you have a non-turbo 2.5 RS or 2.5i (this kit is for the EJ205 / EJ255 turbocharged WRX only) · you expect a guaranteed MPG gain · you live in California or another CARB-adopting state and this SKU carries no EO (see Compliance Notice) · you regularly ford deep standing water — the filter sits low in the fender well.

Check Before Ordering

  1. Vehicle — exact fit. Confirm your WRX is a 2002–2007 Impreza WRX Sedan (GD) or Wagon (GG) with the EJ205 2.0L turbo (2002–2005) or EJ255 2.5L turbo (2006–2007). This kit does not fit the WRX STI (different MAF housing, turbo, and manifold) and is not compatible with non-turbo 2.5 RS or 2.5i models. If your vehicle is not on the Fitment table, message us with the year, model, trim, and engine code before ordering.
  2. Intake type — sealed cold air, not a short ram. This is a true cold air intake: the cone filter sits in the passenger-side fender well, isolated from engine bay heat. It is not a short ram / open-element intake that pulls hot engine bay air. If you want the simplest install or the loudest intake note, consider a short ram style instead.
  3. Filter care — dry media, no oil. The filter is dry synthetic cotton gauze. Do not oil it; oil can transfer to the MAF sensor element and cause fuel trim drift on turbo Subaru applications. Clean and re-use per the cleaning kit instructions — no oil is required.
  4. Sensors and tune — keep the MAF, plan a tune. The kit reuses the factory MAF sensor and air temperature sensor at their OEM location and bore, and is designed as a bolt-on replacement. Subaru turbo engines rely on the MAF to calculate fuel delivery, so an appropriate tune (Cobb Accessport Stage 1+ map or open-source ECU flash for an aftermarket intake) is strongly recommended to keep the air-fuel ratio safe under boost.
  5. Legality — no CARB EO. This kit does not carry a CARB Executive Order. Not legal for sale or use in California (and other CARB-adopting states). If you live in a CARB state, do not order this kit for street use.
  6. Install space and water crossings. Filter mounts low in the passenger-side fender well. Avoid deep standing water; water ingestion can cause hydrolock and severe engine damage. Normal rain and wet-road driving are fine. Budget 60–90 minutes and basic hand tools; no cutting or permanent modification is required.
