Verify the following six items before you add this kit to your cart to avoid a return or an illegal-install situation:

1. Vehicle match: Your vehicle is a 2005-2009 Ford Mustang GT with the 4.6L 3-valve Modular V8 (S197 platform). If your Mustang is a V6, a 2010+ (S197 facelift) GT, or a Shelby GT500 (5.4L supercharged), this kit will not fit — message us with your VIN before checkout.
2. Intake form factor: This is a sealed heat-shielded cold air intake that draws outside air through a fender-well feed, not an open-element short-ram intake. Pick this style if you want cooler intake charge; pick a short-ram if you want maximum intake sound with simpler routing.
3. Filter maintenance: The included cotton gauze cone filter is oiled and reusable. Plan to clean and re-oil it approximately every 25,000–35,000 miles (more often in dusty conditions). Over-oiling can contaminate the MAF sensor — follow the cleaning kit instructions.
4. MAF sensor and throttle body: The intake tube is engineered to retain the factory MAF sensor at the OEM location and bore, and to match the factory throttle-body coupler. No spacer or adapter is required. After install, double-check that all clamps are fully seated to prevent an intake leak.
5. Legality: This kit does not carry a CARB Executive Order (EO) number. It is not legal for sale or use in California (and other CARB-adopting states) for use on public roads. See the Compliance Notice below for the complete state list and exception conditions.
6. Install space and water exposure: Bolt-on install in approximately 60 minutes using basic hand tools. The filter sits inside the engine bay inside the sealed heat shield. Avoid deep-water crossings — water ingestion past the air filter can hydrolock the 4.6L V8 and cause severe engine damage. If you ford water regularly, consider a high-mount or relocation intake.
