Exhaust Header VS Manifold, which is the better choice?
When upgrading your 1996-2001 Chevrolet S10, Blazer, GMC Sonoma, or Jimmy with a 4.3L V6 engine, it’s important to understand the key differences between exhaust headers and manifolds. FLASHARK Exhaust Headers, made from lightweight T-304 stainless steel, offer superior performance compared to traditional iron manifolds. While manifolds tend to create back pressure, reducing engine efficiency, exhaust headers eliminate this issue by providing individual tubes for each engine cylinder, allowing exhaust gases to exit freely and improving overall exhaust flow. This results in increased horsepower, better acceleration, and a more aggressive exhaust sound. Designed for 4WD models, FLASHARK’s exhaust headers are a direct bolt-on solution, requiring no modifications for installation, making them the perfect choice for enhancing both the power and sound of your 4.3L V6 engine.
FAQ
Q: Will the FLASHARK Exhaust Headers fit my 1997 Chevy Blazer 4WD with a 4.3L V6?
A: Yes, the FLASHARK Exhaust Headers are designed specifically for 1996-2001 Chevrolet S10, Blazer, GMC Sonoma, and Jimmy models equipped with the 4.3L V6 engine and 4WD. They will fit your 1997 Chevy Blazer 4WD with no issues.
Q: Does the package include both left and right headers?
A: Yes, the package includes both left and right headers to ensure a complete and hassle-free installation.
Q: Why won't these headers fit my 2002 4x4 S10 with a 4.3L engine?
A: The FLASHARK Exhaust Headers are designed for 1996-2001 model years only. Differences in exhaust system design, engine configuration, and mounting points between the 2002 S10 and earlier models prevent compatibility. Always check compatibility for your specific year and model.
Q: Will these headers work with my 1995 2WD S10?
A: Unfortunately, these headers are not compatible with the 1995 2WD S10. They are specifically designed for 1996-2001 4WD models with a 4.3L V6 engine.
Q: What kind of performance improvement can I expect from these headers on my 4.3L V6?
A: Upgrading to the FLASHARK Exhaust Headers will improve exhaust flow, reduce back pressure, and enhance horsepower and acceleration. You’ll also experience a more aggressive exhaust sound, making it a perfect choice for boosting both performance and sound for your 4.3L V6 engine.
I put these on a 2004 Blazer. They will work if you can cut off the EGR tubes and weld up the holes. They are built very well and installed in the same location as the stock manifolds. Use a little high temp silicone at the contact areas and they seal completely. I am very pleased with these and love showing them off.

Great product for the price
I bought these for my 2001 2wd 4.3 s10 because the price was so much cheaper than 2wd headers and they fit just with a lot of time and patient and i would definitely recommend having mechanical knowledge if you try and attempt this, because you do need to jack the motor up to get driver side manifold out and header back in.

Put this catch can on my ’21 Q60. Install was straightforward, hoses lined up perfectly. Engine feels smoother on acceleration, and I’m confident it’s preventing future carbon buildup.
Put these on my ’10 G37 Coupe last month. Fitment was spot-on, install went smooth, and no rattles or leaks after a few hundred miles. Noticeable bump in power and a deeper exhaust tone without too much drone.
Installed these on my ’08 G37X over the weekend, and I’m impressed. The fitment was spot-on, no weird gaps or alignment issues. Throttle response feels snappier, and there’s a nice bump in low-end torque. The sound is a bit more aggressive but still daily-driver friendly.
I installed these on my 2012 G37 Coupe. Fitment was decent—took some effort around the steering shaft but nothing crazy. Once installed, the car feels more responsive and definitely pulls harder above 4K RPM. The sound is throatier too, especially at wide open throttle. Paired with a tune, it made a noticeable difference. So far, no leaks or issues.
