This two-piece downpipe connects to the turbo outlet and replaces the restrictive factory downpipe/catalytic-converter section on compatible VW MK4 1.8T models. These upgraded downpipes significantly increase horsepower and torque by allowing exhaust gases to flow more freely as they exit the turbo. With a larger diameter and high-quality construction, they reduce backpressure and improve exhaust efficiency, giving you better throttle response and overall performance. Crafted from 16-gauge stainless steel, the downpipe delivers long-lasting performance and an enhanced driving experience.

    • Please compare the turbo flange, exhaust connection and O2 sensor locations with your original system before ordering.

    Product configuration: Two-piece downpipe with a 3-inch turbo-side inlet, 3-inch connection section and 2-inch exhaust-side outlet.

Q: What vehicles does this downpipe fit?

A: This downpipe is designed for 1999–2004 Volkswagen Golf, Jetta and New Beetle models equipped with the 1.8T turbocharged gasoline engine. Fitment is determined by the engine, turbo flange and exhaust configuration—not only by the model year.

    Q: Will it fit a non-turbo 1.8L Volkswagen?

A: No. This product fits the 1.8T turbocharged gasoline engine only. It does not fit naturally aspirated 1.8L engines or Volkswagen 1.9L TDI, 2.0L and VR6 engines.

Q: Will this downpipe fit an Audi A4 1.8T?

A: No. Audi A4 models use a different longitudinal engine layout and exhaust routing. This downpipe is designed for compatible transverse-engine Volkswagen Golf, Jetta and New Beetle applications listed in the fitment table.

Q: Is this a catless downpipe?

A: Yes. This is a two-piece catless downpipe that may replace or alter the factory catalytic-converter section. It is not legal for use on pollution-controlled vehicles on public roads in the United States. Installation and use must comply with all applicable laws.

Q: Will this downpipe cause a check engine light?

A: A check engine light may occur because removing the factory catalytic converter can change the readings detected by the downstream O2 sensor. The exact result depends on the vehicle, ECU calibration and existing modifications.

Q: Is an ECU tune required?

A: The vehicle may operate without an immediate ECU calibration, but a compatible performance calibration may be required to optimize a motorsport setup. A tune does not make an emissions-modifying product legal for street use.

Q: Does it fit the factory turbocharger?

A: It is designed for the compatible factory-style 1.8T turbo flange. It may not fit upgraded or big-turbo systems that use a different turbine outlet flange. Compare the flange pattern with your existing turbo before ordering.

Q: Can I use it with the factory cat-back exhaust?

A: The downpipe uses a 2-inch exhaust-side outlet. Compatibility depends on the connection diameter and configuration of your existing exhaust. Modified or aftermarket exhaust systems may require an adapter or professional fabrication.

    Q: Does installation require welding?

A: Welding is generally not expected when the product is installed on a confirmed-compatible vehicle with the correct factory-style connections. However, previously modified exhaust systems may require an adapter, clamp or professional fabrication.

Q: Are O2 sensor bungs included?

A: The downpipe includes built-in O2 sensor bungs. O2 sensors are not included; compatible existing sensors must be transferred during installation.

Q: What is included in the package?

    A: The package includes:

    • 1 × Upper downpipe section with flex joint
    • 1 × Lower downpipe section
    • 2 × Exhaust gaskets
    • 7 × Bolts
    • 7 × Nuts
    • 7 × Washers

O2 sensors and installation tools are not included.

Q: How much horsepower will this downpipe add?

A: No specific horsepower increase is guaranteed. Results vary according to vehicle condition, ECU calibration, turbocharger, intake, intercooler and the rest of the exhaust system. The primary purpose is to reduce exhaust restriction and support a performance-oriented setup.

Q: Do you recommend professional installation?

A: Yes. Professional installation is recommended because older exhaust fasteners may be seized or corroded, and the turbo flange, O2 sensors and exhaust connections must be properly aligned to prevent leaks or vibration.
