The 5th-gen Camaro SS ships with GM's "Cold Air Induction" system — a plastic airbox drawing from the grille with a flat-panel paper filter. It's functional, efficient, and completely soulless. At wide-open throttle, the 6.2L LS3/L99 sounds muffled and distant, like it's apologizing for making noise. For a 426-horsepower muscle car, that's unacceptable.
This Flashark cold air intake fixes the sound first, then the airflow. The factory ribbed plastic accordion pipe — the single largest restriction in the OEM intake path — is replaced with a mandrel-bent 3.5" aluminum tube finished in black powder-coat. A high-flow dry cone filter replaces the paper panel, and a heat shield positions the filter to draw air from the factory grille duct while separating it from engine-bay heat.
On the dyno, expect 8-12 HP and 8-12 lb-ft of honest gain on an otherwise stock SS. The real transformation, however, is auditory: the LS engine finally produces the deep, throaty induction growl it was always capable of. At part throttle, it stays civilized; open it up, and the engine bay comes alive. The install takes under an hour with hand tools — no cutting, no permanent modification, fully reversible.
Key Features
Vehicle-Specific 5th-Gen Camaro SS Design — Not a universal kit. The intake tube, heat shield, and filter placement are pre-shaped for the 2010–2015 Camaro SS engine bay with the factory grille air duct. Clears the hood, radiator cover, and accessory drive without rubbing
Mandrel-Bent 3.5" Aluminum Intake Tube — Smooth internal diameter with no crush bends. Replaces the restrictive factory ribbed accordion pipe. Finished in durable black powder-coat that resists heat, corrosion, and under-hood chemicals
High-Flow Dry Performance Filter — No oil required. The dry media traps particulates without the risk of MAF sensor contamination associated with oiled filters. Washable and reusable — clean every 15,000–20,000 miles
Heat Shield with Factory Duct Integration — Positions the filter near the factory grille air duct while blocking radiant heat from the exhaust manifold. Retains the OEM cold air feed for lower intake air temperatures at speed
Bolt-On Installation — Under 60 Minutes — Uses factory mounting points and the OEM MAF sensor housing. No cutting, drilling, or permanent modification required. Comes with all necessary silicone couplers, clamps, and hardware
8-12 HP / 8-12 lb-ft Honest Gain — Realistic baseline improvement on a stock-tune LS3/L99. Throttle response sharpens noticeably, and the induction sound alone transforms the driving experience

Q: Does this fit both the LS3 and L99 Camaro SS?
A: Yes. Both the LS3 (manual transmission) and L99 (automatic transmission) Camaro SS use the same intake manifold, throttle body, MAF sensor housing, and airbox mounting points. The intake tube, filter, and heat shield fit both engines identically. This kit does NOT fit: V6 (3.6L), ZL1 (supercharged LSA), Z/28 (LS7), or any 2016+ 6th-gen Camaro. Please confirm your Camaro is an SS trim with the 6.2L V8 before ordering.
Q: What's included in the box?
A: The kit includes: 1x black powder-coated aluminum intake tube, 1x high-flow dry cone filter, 1x heat shield with mounting brackets, 2x silicone couplers, 4x stainless steel clamps, and all necessary installation hardware. The MAF sensor is NOT included — you will reuse your factory MAF sensor. A tune device is not included and not required for basic installation.
Q: Will this cause a check engine light?
A: A correctly installed intake should not trigger a CEL. The most common installation mistakes that cause codes: (1) MAF sensor installed backward — the arrow must point toward the throttle body, (2) MAF electrical connector not fully seated, (3) air leak at a coupler connection downstream of the MAF, (4) breather hose disconnected. If a CEL appears after installation, check these four items first before replacing any parts.
Q: Do I need a tune after installing this intake?
A: No, a tune is not required. This intake retains the factory MAF housing geometry, so the stock ECU calibration can compensate for the change in airflow. If your Camaro already has headers, a camshaft, or other major airflow modifications, a custom tune can optimize the full combination — but the intake alone does not require one.
Q: What is the warranty and return policy?
A: This product comes with a 1-year manufacturer's warranty covering material defects and workmanship. Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery — the product must be unused and in original packaging. For warranty claims or returns, please contact service@flasharkracing.com with your order number.
