Choose the Right Headers for Your Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi

Replace the factory exhaust manifolds with the header layout that better suits your truck, driving needs and planned exhaust system. Flashark offers short tube and long tube headers for listed 2009–2018 Dodge/Ram 1500 trucks equipped with the factory 5.7L Hemi V8 and 2WD/RWD.

Choose the short tube version for a compact manifold-area replacement and a more restrained change in exhaust tone. Choose the long tube version when your build is focused on stronger exhaust flow, a deeper sound and better pull through the upper rpm range—and you are prepared to plan the downstream exhaust connection, oxygen-sensor routing and calibration.

Listed Vehicle: 2009–2018 Dodge/Ram 1500 with the factory 5.7L Hemi V8.

Listed Drivetrain: 2WD/RWD only. Not listed for 4WD or 4x4 trucks.

Long Tube: Select SKU FLES08237, product model EH28935X / ES08237.

Short Tube: Select SKU FLES08294, product model EH28980 / ES08294.

Package contents differ by selected header style. Select the required SKU before ordering and check the selected configuration before installation.

The thicker flange surfaces provide a stable mounting area when the cylinder-head surfaces are prepared correctly and the fasteners are tightened in the proper sequence. Final sealing still depends on surface condition, gasket placement, installation procedure and fastener torque.

Key Features

  • Two header layouts: Choose a compact short tube design or a longer-primary performance layout.
  • Mandrel-bent tubing: Supports smoother exhaust movement through the bends.
  • 201 stainless steel: Designed to handle repeated exhaust heat cycles when installed and maintained correctly.
  • Defined tube sizes: Each configuration lists its primary and collector diameters for easier exhaust planning.
  • Thick mounting flanges: Provide a stable sealing surface when installed with correct preparation and torque.
  • Installation hardware: Gaskets and mounting hardware are included with the listed configurations.

Built for Better Flow and Sound

Mandrel-bent primary tubes give each cylinder a smoother path into the collector than the compact passages of the factory cast-manifold layout. On a naturally aspirated 5.7L Hemi, this design can support sharper throttle response, smoother exhaust movement, a deeper exhaust tone and better pull through the upper rpm range.

The short tube version provides the more restrained change and is suited to owners focused on replacing the manifold-area assembly. The Ram 1500 long tube headers use longer 1.75-inch primary tubes and a 3-inch collector for builds focused on stronger exhaust flow and a more aggressive sound.

Actual output depends on the header style, engine condition, complete exhaust configuration, calibration and installation quality. A fixed horsepower or torque result should not be expected from the headers alone.

Understanding Hemi Tick Before Replacing the Manifolds

A sharp ticking sound around the exhaust manifold area—especially during a cold start—can be associated with a leaking manifold joint, a warped manifold or damaged manifold fasteners. An exhaust-leak tick can be louder when the engine is cold and may become quieter as the metal warms and expands.

Replacing the manifold assembly can address a leak located in that area. Headers will not repair an internal lifter, camshaft or valvetrain fault, so identify the source of the sound before ordering parts.

Installation and Exhaust-System Planning

Allow the engine and exhaust to cool completely before installation. Inspect the cylinder-head sealing surfaces, fasteners and nearby wiring before fitting the headers. Follow the correct tightening sequence and torque procedure, then inspect the joints again after the first complete heat cycles.

The long tube version requires more installation planning than the short tube version. Check the outlet connection, Y-pipe or mid-pipe layout, oxygen-sensor routing and existing exhaust modifications before work begins. Discuss the final exhaust and calibration combination with an experienced installer or tuner.

Technician Note: Exhaust leaks are commonly linked to uneven sealing surfaces, incorrect tightening procedures or loose fasteners after heat cycling. Prepare the sealing surfaces carefully and recheck the installation after the initial heat cycles.

💡 Tech Note: High-performance welding may create slight thermal variances on the flange surface. This is standard for stainless headers. We provide extra-thick gaskets to ensure a perfect, leak-free seal when torqued correctly.

Who Should Choose These Ram 1500 Headers?

  • Owners of a listed 2009–2018 Dodge/Ram 1500 2WD/RWD with the factory 5.7L Hemi V8.
  • Drivers replacing a leaking or damaged factory exhaust-manifold assembly.
  • Daily drivers who prefer the compact short tube layout.
  • Performance-oriented owners prepared for the additional exhaust planning required by long tube headers.
  • Owners seeking a deeper Hemi V8 exhaust tone without relying on a guaranteed power claim.

Who Should Not Order This Header Set?

  • Owners of Ram 1500 4WD or 4x4 trucks.
  • Vehicles without the factory 5.7L Hemi V8.
  • Applications outside the listed 2009–2018 model years.
  • Owners who have not determined whether a ticking sound is an exhaust leak or an internal engine condition.
  • Long tube buyers who cannot accommodate the required exhaust-connection, sensor-routing and calibration planning.

Emissions and Street-Use Notice

Header installation can affect catalytic-converter placement, oxygen-sensor operation and emissions-system compliance. Requirements vary by location and vehicle configuration. Check the selected header layout and applicable local requirements before installation or road use.
