Product Specifications
Built for the iconic BMW E30 3 Series (1982-1991), this Street Series coilover kit delivers a confident stance and tightened handling without sacrificing daily drivability. The signature purple anodized aluminum top mounts add a motorsport-inspired visual touch that stands out on the lift, while the twin-tube damper paired with calibrated 6/8 kg/mm springs keeps the ride composed whether you're commuting or carving back roads.
Designed as a direct bolt-on replacement for the factory suspension, the kit lowers your E30 between 5-8cm (2-3 inches) with threaded height adjustment, letting you dial in the perfect look. Front camber plates are adjustable — a real performance advantage for correcting alignment after lowering or for track-day setup. Compatible with the full range of E30 sedan powertrains including the M20 inline-six, M40/M42 four-cylinders, and M21 diesel (324D/324TD).
For RWD models only. Not compatible with M3 or non-sedan body styles. If you drive your E30 hard, this kit is your foundation — the rest of the build follows.

Product FAQ
Q: Will this fit my E30 M3?
A: No. The E30 M3 has a unique front strut housing, larger brakes, and revised suspension geometry. This kit is designed for standard E30 sedan variants (316/316i/318i/320i/323i/325i/324D/324TD). If you need M3-specific coilovers, contact service@flasharkracing.com.
Q: Will this fit my E30 Coupe, Convertible, or Touring?
A: This kit is for the E30 Sedan (Saloon) only. Coupe/Convertible/Touring have different rear shock geometry or self-leveling rear suspension. Contact service@flasharkracing.com for other body styles.
Q: How low can I drop my E30 with this kit?
A: The kit provides 5-8cm (2-3 inches) of lowering via the threaded spring perch. Most owners run 5-6cm for a clean street look. Going to 7-8cm may require adjusting rear camber and checking tire clearance.
Q: Do I need to cut or modify anything to install these coilovers?
A: No cutting or fabrication required. The kit is a direct bolt-on replacement for the factory struts and rear shocks. Allow 3-4 hours for a full install on a lift. Professional alignment is required after install.
Q: Are the front camber plates really adjustable?
A: Yes. The front top mounts feature adjustable camber plates (purple anodized aluminum) allowing roughly ±1.5° of camber. Essential after lowering — stock camber becomes too positive when dropped. Rear camber is not directly adjustable (E30 rear beam axle).
Q: Are the dampers adjustable? How do I tune them?
A: No, the dampers are non-adjustable (fixed valving) — factory-tuned for a balanced street/light-track ride. This is the Street Series. For adjustable damping, see our Track Series (32-way) coilovers.
Q: What is the spring rate, and is it right for my driving style?
A: 6 kg/mm (336 lbs/in) front and 8 kg/mm (448 lbs/in) rear. Balanced street-oriented rate — firmer than stock E30 sport suspension, well-suited to spirited driving, autocross, and light track use. For builds >300hp or aero, consider Track Series.
Q: Will this fit my E30 with the factory Sport Package?
A: E30s with the 744 Sport Package option (strut tower brace, sport seats) typically fit. E30s with full sport suspension (Sportfahrwerk) have shorter springs — measure your existing ride height and contact service@flasharkracing.com with photos if unsure.
Q: Do I need an alignment after installing coilovers?
A: Yes — a 4-wheel alignment is required after installation. Front camber dialed in via the adjustable camber plates, rear toe set to factory spec. Expect $80-150 at a shop experienced with modified BMWs.
Q: Will these coilovers fail my state inspection / DMV check?
A: In most U.S. states, coilovers are legal if minimum ride height is maintained (typically 6-8 inches fender-to-tire, varies by state). We recommend 5-6cm drop (legal in nearly all states). Check your state's ride height laws. This kit is not DOT/SAE certified — install at owner's discretion.
Q: Are the purple top mounts just cosmetic, or do they have a function?
A: Both. The purple anodized aluminum top mounts are functionally identical to standard steel top mounts in terms of load-bearing and chassis attachment. The anodized finish adds corrosion resistance (helpful in winter/salt areas) and reduces unsprung weight slightly vs steel.
Q: Does this kit include camber plates for the rear?
A: No. The E30 uses a semi-trailing arm rear suspension not camber-adjustable from the shock mount. This kit only includes front adjustable camber plates. For rear camber, you'll need aftermarket camber bolts or adjustable rear control arms (sold separately).
