Cold Air Intake for 2014 Chevy Silverado 5.3L V8
This Flashark cold air intake replaces the stock airbox and intake tube on 2009–2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, Chevy Tahoe, GMC Yukon, and Cadillac Escalade with the 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L, or 6.2L Vortec V8. It uses a mandrel-bent T-304 aluminum tube and an oversized washable oiled cotton filter, so throttle response and intake tone sharpen without touching the throttle body or the ECU. Installation is a bolt-on swap that uses the factory mounting points and reuses the stock MAF/IAT sensor — no tune, no spacer, no cutting.

Key Features
- Mandrel-bent aluminum intake tube: T-304 aluminum with a polished inner surface keeps airflow smooth and steady through the stock throttle body.
- Oversized oiled cotton gauze filter: High-flow cotton media pulls more air through the throttle body and is washable and reusable for the life of the kit.
- Heat-shielded open-element design: A powder-coated heat shield isolates the filter from engine-bay heat so cooler outside air reaches the MAF sensor.
- Factory mounting points, bolt-on install: The tube reuses the stock MAF/IAT location and bore, so the swap is a bolt-on job with hand tools — no spacer, no tune, no cutting.
- Improved throttle response across the RPM range: Reduced airflow restriction gives the 4.8L / 5.3L / 6.0L / 6.2L Vortec V8 a more direct intake path and a deeper intake tone under acceleration.
- All mount accessories included: Couplers, hose clamps, mounting hardware, and a step-by-step instruction sheet come in the box so nothing else needs to be sourced.

Who this kit is for
This Flashark Cold Air Intake is built for 2009–2014 Chevy Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, Tahoe, Yukon, and Cadillac Escalade owners running the 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L, or 6.2L Vortec V8 who want a first intake upgrade done as a bolt-on. ✓ For you if… you tow or haul and want cooler charge air and quicker throttle response in summer heat · you prefer a washable filter over a disposable paper one · you want a bolt-on swap that uses the factory mounting points and keeps the stock sensors · you live in a federal-emissions state (see Check #5). ✗ Not for you if… you live in California or a CARB-adopting state and need an EO-rated kit · you expect a guaranteed MPG gain from an intake alone · you have an oversized aftermarket throttle body or turbo inlet (verify the coupler size with our support team) · you plan deep-water crossings without a hydrolock-safe relocation. Check before ordering
Confirm these before you add the kit to the cart so the box fits the truck and stays street-legal where you live:
- Vehicle fitment: This SKU is built for the 2009–2014 Silverado 1500, Sierra 1500, Tahoe, Yukon, and Escalade with the 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L, or 6.2L Vortec V8. If your truck is a 2500HD/3500HD, a 6.6L Duramax diesel, or a different model year, message our support team with your VIN before ordering.
- Intake type: This is a sealed cold air intake that pulls through the heat shield from outside the engine bay. If you want the loudest possible open-element intake sound, choose a short ram / Performance Intake kit.
- Filter service: The kit ships with an oiled cotton gauze filter. Plan to clean and re-oil it roughly every 10,000–15,000 miles (more often in dusty conditions); over-oiling the filter can coat the MAF sensor, so follow the included cleaning instructions.
- Sensor compatibility: The tube keeps the factory MAF/IAT sensor at the OEM location and bore, so no spacer or aftermarket adapter is needed. If you have an aftermarket oversized throttle body or turbo inlet, confirm the coupler size with our support team before installing.
- Legality: This SKU does not carry a CARB Executive Order. It is not legal for sale or use in California (and other CARB-adopting states). Diesel applications and pre-1995 vehicles may be exempt from CARB EO requirements — confirm your state's rules before ordering.
- Install & water crossings: Bolt-on install with basic hand tools using the factory mounting points. The filter sits inside the engine bay behind the heat shield; avoid deep water crossings because water ingestion can cause hydrolock and severe engine damage.

2009–2014 Chevy Silverado & GMC Sierra 4.8L / 5.3L / 6.0L / 6.2L V8 Cold Air Intake FAQs
Q1: Is this cold air intake legal in my state?
A1: This kit does not carry a CARB Executive Order. It is not legal for sale or use in California (and other CARB-adopting states). Federal-only states allow on-road installation. Diesel applications and pre-1995 vehicles may be exempt from CARB EO requirements — confirm with your state DMV before installing.
Q2: Will this fit my 2009–2014 Silverado 1500 5.3L?
A2: This SKU is engineered for the 2009–2014 Chevy Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, Chevy Tahoe, GMC Yukon, and Cadillac Escalade with the 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L, or 6.2L Vortec V8. It is not built for the Silverado 2500HD/3500HD, the 6.6L Duramax diesel, or other model years. Send us a complete message including your VIN before ordering if your truck is not in this list.
Q3: How much horsepower will this add?
A3: Typical intake-only gains for this naturally aspirated 4.8L / 5.3L / 6.0L / 6.2L Vortec V8 application are approximately +3–10 hp and +3–10 lb-ft of torque. Actual results depend on the vehicle, ECU calibration, installation, and supporting hardware. We don't publish a single whp figure for this SKU because we have not run a controlled dyno test on it.
Q4: Will a cold air intake improve my MPG?
A4: MPG is dominated by driving habits; an intake alone can't guarantee a measurable gain. Expect the main benefit as throttle response and intake tone rather than fuel economy.
Q5: Will this void my warranty?
A5: Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, an aftermarket part cannot void your factory warranty unless it is proven to have caused the failure. This kit is designed as a direct bolt-on replacement that keeps factory sensors and connections.
Q6: Will it throw a check engine light (CEL)?
A6: This kit is designed to retain the factory MAF/IAT sensor location and bore, which keeps the MAF calibration within the OEM design envelope. CELs are usually the result of an intake leak, an over-oiled filter, or a mismatched sensor bore — the included install checklist covers how to avoid each. For a step-by-step install walkthrough that specifically avoids MAF codes on the 5.3 Vortec, see our Cold Air Intake install guide for the Chevy Silverado.
Q7: Do I need a tune after installing?
A7: No tune is required for this bolt-on install. The tube keeps the factory MAF/IAT sensor at the OEM location and bore, so the stock ECU calibration reads within design range. If you later add an aftermarket throttle body or turbo inlet, a custom tune is recommended.
Q8: Is this safe in rain or deep water?
A8: Normal rain driving is fine — the heat shield isolates the filter from engine-bay heat. Avoid deep water crossings; water ingestion can cause hydrolock and severe engine damage. Consider a high-mounted or relocation kit if you ford water regularly.
Q9: How do I clean and re-oil the filter?
A9: Use a dedicated oiled-filter cleaning kit: spray the filter with the cleaner, let it sit, rinse from the clean side out, and let it air dry completely. Then apply a light, even coat of filter oil — over-oiling can coat the MAF sensor and cause a CEL. Re-oil roughly every 10,000–15,000 miles, more often in dusty conditions.
Q10: What does it sound like?
A10: You'll hear a deeper intake tone under acceleration; at cruise it quiets down. Sound is subjective — if you want the loudest option, choose an open-element short ram intake style instead. For more on how the heat shield and intake style affect IAT and tone, see our Cold Air Intake heat shield IAT results guide.
Q11: What's included and what do I still need?
A11: The kit includes the mandrel-bent aluminum tube, oversized oiled cotton filter, heat shield, silicone coupler, hose clamps, mounting hardware, and an instruction sheet. The factory MAF/IAT sensor is reused from your existing setup — it is not included in the box. Basic hand tools (socket set, screwdrivers, pliers) are needed; no specialty tools required.
Q12: Will it work with my aftermarket throttle body or turbo?
A12: This kit is engineered for the factory throttle body bore on the 4.8L / 5.3L / 6.0L / 6.2L Vortec V8. If you run an oversized throttle body or an aftermarket turbo inlet, verify the coupler size with our support team before ordering.
