4-Inch Heat Shield Cold Air Intake Kit For 2009-2013 GMC Chevrolet 4.8L 5.3L 6.0L 6.2L V8 Engine
Stock GMT900 truck intakes pull hot air from inside the engine bay — and when you're towing, crawling, or sitting in traffic, that heat kills power. The Flashark 4-inch cold air intake replaces the restrictive factory airbox with a larger-diameter intake tube and an open-element dry filter that draws cooler, denser air from the fender area.
The 4-inch mandrel-bent aluminum pipe flows significantly more air than the factory plastic tract, especially above 3,500 RPM where the stock intake starts choking the 6.0L and 6.2L engines. A black powder-coated heat shield isolates the filter from heat from the radiator and exhaust manifold, keeping IATs closer to ambient.
Installation takes 60-90 minutes with basic hand tools. The kit reuses the factory MAF sensor, bolts to stock mounting points, and leaves the factory airbox completely intact — so it's fully reversible. Expect deeper intake growl at WOT, sharper throttle tip-in, and noticeable mid-range pull on 6.0L and 6.2L trucks.
Key Features
4-Inch Mandrel-Bent Intake Tube — 6061 aluminum with black powder-coated finish; larger diameter than stock to reduce intake restriction at high RPM
High-Flow Dry Cone Filter — Washable, reusable, no oil required; catches fine dust without the risk of fouling your MAF sensor
Black Powder-Coated Heat Shield — Shields the filter from radiator heat and engine bay soak, keeping intake air temperatures lower than the open-element alternatives
Direct Bolt-On Design — Uses factory mounting points and MAF sensor housing; no drilling, no cutting, and fully reversible
Throttle Response Improvement — Reduces the "dead pedal" hesitation common on GMT900 drive-by-wire trucks, especially noticeable when merging or passing
Deep Intake Growl at WOT — Open-element dry filter produces a throaty induction sound under hard acceleration without being obnoxious at cruise
Serviceable Dry Filter — Clean every 15,000-30,000 miles with compressed air or mild soap and water; no re-oiling kit needed
Free Shipping & 30-Day Returns — Ships from US warehouse, arrives in 3-5 business days

Q: Will this fit my 2009-2013 Silverado or Sierra 1500?
A: Yes. This kit fits 2009-2013 Silverado 1500 and Sierra 1500 with 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L, or 6.2L V8 engines. Check the full fitment table above for your exact year/engine combo.
Q: Will this fit a Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, or Escalade?
A: Yes — this kit covers the GMT900 SUV platform: 2009-2013 Tahoe, Suburban 1500, Yukon, Yukon XL 1500, and Escalade (ESV/EXT). Confirm your engine size in the fitment table before ordering.
Q: Does it fit the 6.2L V8?
A: Yes. The kit fits 6.2L-equipped models: Silverado 1500 / Sierra 1500 with the 6.2L (L9H), Yukon XL 1500 with the 6.2L (L94), and Cadillac Escalade / ESV / EXT. The 4-inch tube is sized appropriately for the 6.2L's airflow needs.
Q: Will this fit a 2007 or 2008 model?
A: No. The 2007-2008 GMT900 trucks use a different MAF sensor housing design. This kit is designed specifically for 2009-2013 models.
Q: What kind of horsepower gain should I expect?
A: Realistic gains are 8-12 HP and 10-14 lb-ft of torque at the wheels on a stock truck, with the 6.0L and 6.2L seeing the biggest improvement. Gains are most noticeable above 3,500 RPM. A tune will unlock additional power.
Q: Do I need a tune after installing this intake?
A: No tune is required for basic installation. The factory ECU will adapt fuel trims within 50-100 miles of driving. A tune will maximize gains if you have other bolt-ons (headers, exhaust, cam).
Q: Will this cause a check engine light?
A: No — if installed correctly. The most common causes of a CEL after CAI install are: loose clamps (vacuum leak), MAF sensor installed backward, or MAF not fully seated. Double-check all connections after install.
Q: Is the filter oiled or dry?
A: It's a dry filter — no oil required. This means zero risk of over-oiling and contaminating your MAF sensor, which is a known issue with oiled cotton-gauze filters on GM trucks.
Q: How do I clean the filter?
A: Tap out loose debris or blow out with compressed air (low pressure, inside-out) every 15,000 miles. For a deep clean, wash with mild soap and water, rinse thoroughly, and let air-dry completely before reinstalling. No re-oiling needed.
Q: How long does installation take?
A: 60-90 minutes with basic hand tools (socket set, screwdrivers). The hardest part is removing the factory airbox silencer, which takes about 15 minutes. Everything else is bolt-on using factory mounting points.
Q: Can I return to stock later?
A: Yes — fully reversible. The kit uses factory mounting points and does not require cutting or drilling. Keep your original airbox and intake tube, and you can swap back in about 30 minutes.
Q: What is the warranty and return policy?
A: We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee and a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects. Free shipping on all orders. Contact service@flasharkracing.com for any issues.
