Exhaust Header VS Manifold, which is the better choice?

The structural differences between exhaust headers and manifolds are the material and size. From the material, exhaust headers are made of lighter, thinner steel, while exhaust manifolds are made of thick iron. Exhaust headers are also longer than exhaust manifolds. When in use, exhaust manifolds create back pressure, which lowers performance. Because each cylinder of the engine is given its own tube, however, headers eliminate this problem; thus, allowing the gases to exit without the creation of back pressure. Therefore, exhaust headers are a BETTER choice than an exhaust manifold.

great looking headers

super looking headers, bolt on nicely except two minor issues; the front two bolts are 7/16", all others are 3/8", your kit only has the 3/8" bolts, no problem, hardware store has them; 2nd issue: the steering gear box on the pickup truck is slightly in the way of the rear pipe, i raised the engine/trans and ground off a little of the top of the gear box, it fits now. All in all great value for the price. thanks,Roger

Missing bolts

I very much like the quality of the headers I received, they look great and fine workmanship. My only complaint is that a 1948 through 1953 flathead V8 uses 7/16 bolts for the front exhaust port. The remainder are 3/8. My kit came with all 3/8 header bolts causing me to have to find 4 - 7/16 header bolts.
